What and where is advertising?
We have been focusing on Online advertising with its pop-ups ads, video ads, banner ads, and advergames. We even played a fun advergame that was created for lunchables. We worried that the mixed up animals we were creating were what the lunchable meat was made of. Haha! Students are now using the animal they created as part of a 'lost animal' poster, where we are learning how to appeal to people's emotions in our semi-advertisement. (Also learning Microsoft Word Skills at the same time!!).
Next up is more detailed learning on how advertising is directed at them and how they use emotion, color, and fun to target them. We will also try to figure out who different ads are targeting and if they are using fact or opinion to sell their product.
