star light, star bright: stories about the Night sky
The evening started out with a few stories about the Night Sky: How many Stars in the Sky by Lenny Holt and Mousetronaut by Mark Kelley. Then viewers were entranced by a Space themed puppet play by Coralee Leue of the Utah Puppet Players. More storytelling followed with legends and folktales about the moon from the book Moontellers by Lynn Moroney. Also we darkened the lights for a flashlight story of the origins of the most popular Constellations. Everyone got the chance to do astronomy themed crafts with our great PE instructor Ms. Bernadine. Families got to enjoy hot chocolate and space themed cookies, created by Just-Iced Cookies, a cookie company owned by a Ensign parent. Kim from the local public library came up to give out free books and promote public library events. Everyone got a chance to check out some amazing telescopes provided by parent George Robison. It was a fantastic evening! I am looking forward to next year!
