Over the next two weeks student athlete will have the opportunity to challenge their minds with reading and challenge their bodies with physical activity. Each day your student athlete will record time spent reading and time spent doing physical activity outside of school hours (if you child is home sick, school time hours don’t count). The tracking sheet should be turned in daily, if possible, placed into the team bins that are displayed outside of the main entrance to the school library. All time will be tallied and updated daily on a bar graph that will be posted in the window of the library. You are welcome to come see the progress. Please note that Kindergarten students who may just be starting to read, can record time spent being read to by someone else.
There will be incentives for individual accomplishment by age and class participation prizes. However, your student athlete is also a member of a superhero league for school-wide competition; The League of Defenders, The League of Guardians, or The League of Justice. Our school has been divided up evenly into these three teams so that there is a representation from each grade on each team. The minutes that your student accumulates go toward a team total. Teams will also earn extra time for participation during library time and PE time. There will be a wonderful incentive for the winning team. Additionally at 3:05pm each day, you are welcome to join us for our superhero update announcement which includes current totals and some wonderful examples about real life superheroes.
