We are so excited to be participating in this fun event that is full of prizes and of course, reading!!
As a school we are working as a team in this challenge, competing against other schools for the grand prize of an ice-cream party for the entire school and a visit from a Utah Jazz Player.
Students are given reading charts. They record the numbers of minutes they read at home each day. Younger students can record time spent being read to by a sibling or parent. Here is an extra chart if you need one. Each weekly chart must be signed by a parent or guardian -so please remember to sign them!
Each of the four weeks will have the following prizes
*Highest total minutes reader –for K-2 and 3-6. They will get their choice of a new book to keep.
*Highest total minute average class –only 1 class. They will get a bag of treats.
*Highest total minutes reader –for K-2 and 3-6. They will get a book autographed by a Jazz Player.
If our school wins in our size bracket, the whole school will get an ice cream party and a visit from a Jazz Player. Winning school last year had an average of 90 mins read per day per student.
